Launch of “Smart Construction Simulation – for ICT Construction Stage II” – Cost-effective earthwork simulation tailored for Stage II ICT construction to optimize on-site hauling operations –

EARTHBRAIN Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Akinori Onodera, hereinafter “EARTHBRAIN”) has been offering “Smart Construction Simulation” since September 2022—a solution that leverages digital twins and AI to quickly generate optimal construction plans and manage operations. Today, EARTHBRAIN announces the launch of a new, more affordable version of this solution, specifically focused on earthmoving operations: “Smart Construction Simulation – for ICT Construction Stage II” (hereinafter “the service”).

Earthmoving planning is a critical phase that significantly affects the overall productivity of a construction project. It requires careful consideration of numerous factors, such as traffic conditions, road specifications, and equipment constraints. Due to the complexity and unpredictability of these variables, earthmoving planning often relies heavily on experience and is a frequent cause of project delays.

This new service enables users to instantly generate optimal hauling plans by simulating various constraints—such as road conditions, congestion, and the impact of parallel projects—on a digital twin. For example, by simply specifying the departure and arrival points and selecting the equipment to be used, the system can automatically calculate the most efficient transport routes, daily equipment utilization rates, number of trips, construction schedules, and estimated costs. It also allows users to visualize machinery movements through animation.

Because the service focuses specifically on earthmoving operations, it is more cost-effective than the full-featured Smart Construction Simulation. In line with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s ICT Construction Stage II initiative※1, this version enhances integration with Smart Construction Fleet’s dump truck management functions※2. This enables a seamless, end-to-end digital workflow—from earthmoving plan creation and actual performance analysis, to optimized replanning based on real-world data.

By analyzing deviations between plan and actual performance and revising workflows accordingly, this service helps improve productivity across the entire construction site.

EARTHBRAIN will continue to drive the digital transformation of construction sites, aiming to enhance productivity, safety, and environmental performance, and to help create smarter, cleaner job sites for the future.

1. Key Features

(1) Generate Optimal Earthmoving Plans Instantly
By incorporating detailed constraints—such as road conditions, traffic congestion, and the impact of simultaneous construction projects—the system can instantly calculate the most efficient earthmoving plan. Users can also preview planned workflows through animations during the planning phase, enabling them to assess multiple scenarios in a short period and select the most effective plan while accounting for potential risks.

(2) Manage Planned vs. Actual Progress of Earthmoving Operations
By integrating with Smart Construction Fleet, the system enables real-time visualization of actual performance, such as trip counts and volume moved. This makes it easy to compare planned and actual performance. In addition, it automatically analyzes activity patterns such as loading, unloading, and traveling, allowing for immediate identification and improvement of inefficient processes.

(3) Quickly Recalculate Optimized Plans Based on Actual Data
If performance analysis indicates that the original plan needs adjustment, the system can quickly simulate an optimized revised plan using real-world data. Just like the initial planning phase, constraints such as road conditions, congestion, and other concurrent projects can be factored in—significantly reducing the time required for replanning and enabling a smooth, end-to-end process from planning to performance management to re-optimization.
